Formula One Future
SHANGHAI, China (Reuters) -- Spaniard Fernando Alonso won a chaotic Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday to hand Renault the Formula One constructor's title on top of the driver's crown he took last month.
Although I admit that many japanese people love to watch Formula one races, the uprising popularity for Formula one in China is overwhelming.
When I travelled to China five years ago, there was no sign which indicated there were a lot of Formula one funs in the country.
However, the first race in Shanghai a year ago ended so succecefully, I heard. And there seemed to be over 100000 people who loved this game and afforded to buy expensive tickets.
I recall a big boom in Japan when Ayrton Senna got popularity in Japan around 1985.The market was so profitable for the Formula one industry that we held two races a year, one as Japanese Ground Prix, and the other as Pacific Grand Prix.
I began to think that China will become the second country in Asia, which will hold a several races a year in near future.Specially when you take consideration into population growth and growing affluent youth, the possiblity gets higher and higher.
Thus, you do not have to wait for so long years to see the first Chinese Forumula one pilot. For, as soon as a lot of people begin to watch a kind of sports in television, the star player is supporsed to emerge from the country.
